Antidiabetic Activity of Methanol Extract of Bark of Alstonia scholaris from Papua

One of the biological wealth that grows in Papua is Alstonia scholaris, known by Maybrat tribe as swe plant and used a traditional medicine for antidiabetic. The Swe tree contains lot white sap tastes very bitter. There also bitter taste roots, bark, leaves so it thought to contain bioactive compounds alkaloids which have potential This study aims extract determine antidiabetic activity inhibition α-glucosidase methanol bark scholaris from basis development drugs based on local resources. method was extraction maceration, phytochemical screening test, test functional group analysis using FTIR. results showed strongly positive containing secondary metabolites flavonoids. Analysis groups with FTIR metabolite compound -OH group, C=C stretch C=O group. IC50 value MeOH 0.97 µg/mL inhibition. suggest might be considered source bio active constituents excellent activity.
